Thanks for sharing your experience. I won’t deny that it’s hard to hear, but we take it seriously.
That said, our internal records show multiple follow-ups from our support and technical team on your reported issues. If things fell through on communication, that’s on us to fix. We never shy away from improving and being transparent.
Let’s reconnect, not to debate the past, but to learn from it. If you’re open, we can review your case again with my support and sales leads and figure out where the disconnect happened.
@dcitelecom Yes, we’ve done that intentionally. This is an open source project, and everyone believe things should happen out in the open - not behind closed doors. That’s why we are not going to open personal DM.
@airsay You pop in out of nowhere, throw around “draconian grip,” and act like you’ve been here fighting the fight? Come on. You’ve never contributed, never collaborated, and never even bothered to ask how things work but suddenly you’ve got all the answers?
Let’s be clear: ASTPP has survived and grown because people did the work not because of random critics who show up once every few years to throw shade and then disappear. You want to talk about control? Try managing a global OSS with real customers, real security expectations, and zero tolerance for amateur hour.
This isn’t a daycare for drive by critics. If you haven’t contributed a single line, test case, or doc page, you haven’t earned the right to lecture anyone. Either get involved or get out of the way.
And no, we’re not doing backchannel DMs. This is open source. Everything happens out in the open. If that’s too uncomfortable, maybe this isn’t your space.
If that was the case, you would not of locked some threads me an another were posting on, and told us to discuss that privately. Nor would have you deleted the thread on the security me and @dcitelecom had on the security issue.
Lol! You assume a lot! Loads of folks read anonymously. That I decided to comment does not mean I’ve come out of “nowhere”. But hey, do you. I will step out of your line of fire. Enjoy
I think you are wrong. Sorry. I don’t know any other open source projects that prohibit DMs. Even the FreePBX and FusionPBX forums allow DMs, and they emphasize commercial add-ons heavily.
DMs allow members to interact privately and exchange ideas. I once even offered a bounty in the FusionPBX forum when I needed help quickly, and the resulting code was shared with the project per the spirit of open-source collaboration.
I support the proposal to assist in the development and maintenance of ASTPP in its community version.
I am a retired developer, and I am just starting with ASTPP. I have invested time and money to implement this solution, and I would not like to consider it a loss.
Earlier this year, I experienced a security incident that caused me to lose money. My limited experience with the product does not allow me to clearly assess the gap, but I insist that I am willing to help.
